    The NGPES is the framework under which the government plans to develop and implement his initiatives to end poverty and sustain national growth. It focuses on eradicating poverty in Lao PDR by 2020, particularly in rural areas.

    This pamphlet provides a brief guide on everything you need to know about Lao PDR's aim of exiting the Least Developed Country (LDC) list by 2020. This includes the three criteria required to graduate from LDC status; Gross National Income per capita; The Human Assets Index; and The Economic Vulnerability Index.

  • Vientiane Declaration on Aid Effectiveness

    The Vientiane Declaration on Aid Effectiveness was signed at the ninth Round Table meeting in November 2006 by the Government of Lao PDR and 22 development partners, with a further three signing at a later date.

  • The 7th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2011-2015)

    The Government of Lao PDR's 7th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) is a continuation of the 6th Five-Year Plan and plays an important role in realizing the Ninth Party Congress Resolution. The Plan is regarded as a measure for achieving socio-economic development, industrialization and modernization towards the year 2020.

  • Socioeconomic Impact Assessment: Stora Enso Plantation Project Lao PDR

    This report has been prepared by Earth Systems Lao (ESL) as part of the Socioeconomic Assessment for a proposed Stora Enso Eucalyptus plantation project (hereafter ‘the Project’). Earth Systems Lao is conducting the social assessment on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme Lao PDR (UNDP Lao PDR).

We work toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the 7th National Socio-Economic Development Plan 2011-2015 and, more broadly, Lao PDR’s “graduation” to middle-income status by 2020, through comprehensive assistance to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
