The UNDP Resident Representative also serves as the Resident Coordinator of development activities for all United Nations Agencies in Lao PDR. A total of 23 United Nations organizations are represented in Lao PDR. We work together as the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) to support national development and better lives for all people of the country, especially the poorest and most vulnerable. The United Nations as a whole collaborates closely with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, as well as the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

While each organization has programmes and projects in line with its own mandate, the UNCT ensures that these programmes reinforce each other and provide the most effective aid in a well-coordinated manner through the expected outcomes of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). The next UNDAF for Lao PDR (2012-2015) was finalized at the end of 2011 and is based on a comprehensive analysis of the root causes of priority national development challenges and of resulting needs to be addressed at all levels.
