Photo competition: “Laos in focus – picturing the MDGs”
We are pleased to announce the winners of the Laos in focus photo contest.
The winner of the main category (General Entry) is Mr. Siththisak Phaninhuan from Luang Namtha with his photo “Vaccination in Luangnamtha hospital”. Mr. Siththisak will receive a Nikon D5200 DSLR camera.
The first runner-up is Mr. Midphasong Mingnakhone from Vientiane, with his photo “A child from kindergarten has received a donation of educational equipment.” Mr. Midphasong will receive a Canon EOS 100D DSLR camera.
The second runner-up is Mr. Thipphakone Manyvong from Vientiane, with his photo “If you love what you do, you can be happy”. He will receive Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
The winner of the Young Snapper contest is Mr. Dethnaphonexay Xoumphonepakdee from Vientiane, with “Special poluted areas”. He will receive Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone.
The winner of the Special Beeline award is Ms. Khamla Sonenapha from Vientiane, with “Encourage children to be able to enroll at school nationwide”. She will receive Samsung Galaxy S II + nice number + free airtime for one year

“Laos in Focus - Picturing the MDGs” is a national photo contest organized by the United Nations in Lao PDR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We invite you send in your photos that highlight some of the causes, solutions and achievements made in various areas of development over the recent years in Lao PDR.
Lao PDR’s nine Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which relate to the following issues: (MDG1) poverty reduction, (MDG2) education, (MDG3) gender equality, (MDG4) child mortality, (MDG5) maternal health, (MDG6) infectious diseases, (MDG7) environmental sustainability, (MDG8) development partnerships and (MDG9) the UXO.
You may enter one of the two categories in the contest:
(1) General entry – open for all Lao nationals, submit your photos in high resolution digital format (specifications apply). Winner will be chosen by a panel of judges.
(2) Young snapper – open for Lao nationals under 25 years of age, photos must be shot with a mobile device. Winner will be chosen by general public by voting in Facebook.
